Grass Hills is located 15 km from the Valparai hill range in Coimbatore District. This is a protected area, at an elevation of around 7874 ft, and is a part of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. Grass Hills is a sylvan landscape preserving a broad variety of flora and fauna. A number of animals including Niligiri thar, elephants, bison, Indian gaur, bear and Niligiri langurs are seen there. Visitors can enter this hill region with a special permission from the wildlife warden. The best time to visit is May - January period.
Valparai can be reached by road from Pollachi (64 km) and Coimbatore (100 km).
The nearest railway station is the Coimbatore Junction Railway Station. The closest airport is at Coimbatore.
