Government Polytechnic, established in 1963, is one of the foremost technical institutes in the states of
Goa.It is situated on the top of the
Altinho hill overlooking
Panaji. Under the rule of
Portuguese, this institute was known as the 'Escola de Industrial e Commercial'.
The institution offers diploma courses in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, food technology, instrumentation and control, architectural assistantship, garment technology and interior design.
Spread over a vast area of 74,000 sq m, the polytechnic has a number of separate blocks. The campus has well equipped laboratories, a well stocked library, conference hall, architectural studio canteen and playground for conducting various sports activities.
In order to improve the quality of teaching, there is a Learning Resource Utilization Center that makes teaching process more effective by using various equipments, machines and modern teaching aids. The institute frequently organizes career oriented programs, workshops and seminars. Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls.
