Government Observatory




Government Observatory is situated on a hill, 60 m above sea level, just opposite to the Kanakakunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram District. It is one of the oldest observatories in India built by Swathi Thirunal Maharaja, the Raja of Travancore, in 1836. The Observatory offers enchanting scenery of the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. It is now managed by the Government of Kerala.
