Government Museum is situated at
Ramanathapuram, about 110 km south-east of
Madurai, in
Tamil Nadu. Established in 2000, the museum exhibits bronzes, wood carvings, metal-ware objects, coins, rocks, minerals, pre-historic tools, paintings, tribal artifacts, herbarium sheets, timber varieties and other natural history materials.
Ramanathapuram Railway Station, on the Manamadurai- Rameshwaram railway line, is the nearest railhead.
