Government College of Arts and Crafts is one of the oldest art institutions in
Tamil Nadu, situated at Poonamalle High Road,
Chennai. Started in 1850 as a training center for crafts, it is the first School of Industrial Arts in Chennai.
Affiliated to University of Madras, the Government College of Arts and Crafts offers degree and post graduation courses. The courses are offered in painting, sculpture, commercial art, ceramics and textile design. The ancillary subject is printmaking or photography.
