Gorsam Chorten

Gorsam Chorten (‘chorten’ means ‘stupa’) is a gigantic structure of around 100 feet height, situated in the lush green valley near Zemithang in Tawang District.

From the glance that one gets from the road that winds down the steeped ridge, the chorten appears like an unusually shaped pyramid perhaps mistakenly built in the Himalayan valley. This magnificent piece of architecture that soars over the narrow trail of Namjang Chu is a rare spectacle and some times an un-paralleled sight of sorts in the whole world.

A few buses operate between Tawang and Zemithang; but hiring a private vehicle would be a better option. Accommodations are available at Zemithang.
