Gopalnagar lies near the western banks of the Kangsabati River, in Purulia District of West Bengal. Manbazar and Kenda are situated about 11 km and 10 km respectively from here. To the south of Gopalnagar is Sindri. Puncha, Bamundiha and Kantadih are other nearby places.
The sprawling Ajodhya Hills and Jain Temple at Balrampur are the major tourist attractions.
