Gomukteesar-Masilamaneesar Temple is located at Tiruvavaduturai near
Mayiladuthurai. Covering an area of 10 acre, this
Shiva temple has a huge Rajagopuram and 3
prakarams. The temple has a gigantic
Nandi idol and separate temples for Ambal and Tirumular adorn this shrine. There are inscriptions from the period of Parantaka Chola I who built this temple. The main festival is annual Bhrammotsavam celebrated in the month of Thai. Others include Arudra Darisanam, Aani Tirumanjanam,
Skanda Shashti and Aadi pooram.
