Gommatagiri



Located 23 km from Mysore, Gommatagiri is well known for the monolithic idol of Bhagvann Sri Gommateshwara which is 16 feet in height. The idol is situated on top of a hill called Shravana Gudda. People from all parts of the country visit this place when the mahamastakabhisheka (anointing of the great head) ceremony is celebrated annually in September-October.
