Golden Cross

Golden Cross is situated at Kurishumudi, atop the Malayattoor hill, in Ernakulam District of Kerala.

It is believed that the cross was formed when St Thomas knelt on a rock and signed a cross with his finger. A golden cross is said to have appeared at the spot where St Thomas prayed. An ancient chapel is also nearby. This chapel was attacked by elephants in the past and the deep tusk marks can still be found on the back wall of the chapel.

Malayatoor Church, Marthoma Mandapam and Sannidhi are the attractions in the vicinity.

By road, Malayattoor can be approached from Kochi, which is about 47 km away. Malayattoor is about 10 km to the north-east of Kaladi. The nearest railway station is at Angamaly.
