Gohana

Also known as Gohana Tal



Gohana or Gohana Tal, a picturesque lake, is situated in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. It is 5 km long and 2 km wide and lies on the Kuari-Auli-Tapovan trek route. The lake blocks the course of River Birahi Ganga. A portion of the lake disappeared in 1970. The lake is excellent for fishing. It offers panoramic views of the Trishul Peak and Birahi Valley. Nearby destinations are Ramni, Kanali, Birahi, Bhagini Khal Pass, Chechni Pass, Pipalkoti Peak and Kuari Pass. Accommodation is available in a nearby government-owned rest house. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport. The nearest railhead is at Rishikesh.
