Goddess Sheetla Temple

Shitla Mandir Jangla

Goddess Sheetla Temple is a highly revered shrine situated in Jangla village in Bilaspur District. It lies on the Gehrwin – Badol – Dhanathar road and is around 2 km from Gehrwin. The temple has been constructed in the middle of a tank, bridged by a concrete path.

Legend says that Goddess Sheetla, the younger sister of the Goddess Badol Devi, had appeared in the dream of a resident of the village and directed him to install an idol of hers at a place where water is abundant. Though he tried to install the idol near a pond, his foot steps automatically took him to the present place. Since there was no water there, in order to fulfill the Goddess’s command, he built a tank and installed the image at its middle.
