Goa Engineering College (GEO) is located at Farmagudi, about 2 km from Ponda in North Goa District. Established in 1967, it is the only government engineering college in Goa providing both full- and part-time engineering courses.
Affiliated to the recently established Goa University, the college offers engineering courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Engineering and Information Technology. Also, two postgraduate courses in the fields of Foundation Engineering and Industrial Engineering are conducted.
The college has a modern library with a wide collection of books, periodicals and magazines. The Educational Technology Center conducts various vocational courses, seminars, symposiums and workshops. The placement and training cell of the college organizes campus interviews for the final year students. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls.
Ponda is about 28 km south-east of Panaji and 17 km north-east of Margao. Kadamba Transport Corporation operates buses from important destinations in Goa to the college campus.
