Galta Temple

Galta Temple is located at Galtaji in Jaipur District of Rajasthan. It is a small shrine dedicated to Surya and lies atop a hill. It is a 3-km climb from Surajpol, which is east of Galtaji. This temple was built by Diwan Kriparam. The Galta Temple is financially supported by the Birla family. Legend has it that Galtaji was the place where the sage Galava performed penance 15 centuries ago.

Near to this temple is a natural spring, which is believed to have curative properties. Another specialty is the tank, which is constantly filled with spring water coming from a stone-carved cove. The temple provides an impressive view of the city as well as the surrounding plains and of a picturesque gorge.
