Festival of Gardens, popularly known as Rose Festival, is celebrated at
Zakir Rose Garden, in
Chandigarh. It is a three-day celebration organized in the last week of February or in the beginning of March. Since 1997, Festival of Gardens is included on the national calendar of festivals.
Festival of Gardens is the biggest rose show in the country. Several varieties of roses are on display at the Rose Garden. The festival includes performances of music and dance, both classical and folk, flower shows, several events for children and exhibitions by local artists, photographers and craftsman.
During the festival a number of colourful events such as Garbha, Haryanvi Dance, Gidda, Bhangra, street shows and magic shows are conducted, which draws thousands of visitors to the Zakir Rose Garden.
On-the-spot painting, Rose prince and Rose Princess, and flower decoration competitions are organized among different age groups of children.
Various companies put up their stalls to show their products.
