Feast of Three Kings

Feast of Three Kings is celebrated in Goa, on 6th January. The festival is also known by different names such as 'Festa Dos Reis' and 'The Epiphany Day'.

Major celebration takes place at the Church of Our Lady of the Mount in Panaji. The feast is also celebrated in the villages of Reis Magos, Cansaulim and Chandor. Blare of trumpets and drums wake up the villages, informing the arrival of festivity.

The Lady of Mount, famous for her amazing protection and supernatural powers, is fully ornamented on this day. Devotees gather at the stone chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Reis to pay their tribute to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.

The climax of the festival is reached, when three little boys whose age ranges from 8 to 10 are selected as the three Kings to bring the gift to the Child-God. The boys, dressed up in royal garments, are mounted on white horses to accompany a procession, which leads to the Hill of Remedios. Huge mass assembles on the mount to get a glance of the three kings.

The feast is made alive with musics, dance and firework displays. Resounds of human voices re-energized the Hill of Remedios and chapel during the festival.
