Feast of St Anthony

St Anthony Church at Siolim celebrates the Feast of St Anthony with traditional pomp and fervor. It is held on 13th June. Built in the Corinthian style, the church houses a beautiful statue of St Anthony, on the church frontispiece, with a serpent dangling on a rope in his right hand.

The festival is celebrated to declare the arrival of monsoon. If the monsoon has not arrived by the time, there is a belief among the people to lower the statue of the saint into the family well for the onset of rain.
