Fanai

A Tribe

Fanais came to the Lushai Hills from Myanmar and shaped a village of their own near Champhai. In course of time they moved south-west and occupied the various sites to the west and north-west of Lunglei. There were eight Fanai villages holding around seven hundred families, along the banks of Tyao and Kolodyne rivers when the British captured this territory.
