Ernakulathappan Temple Utsavam

Ernakulathappan Temple Utsavam is an annual festival celebrated at the Ernakulathappan Temple, which is situated in the heart of Ernakulam. This eight-day long festival is held during January-February. The Durbar Hall ground, adjacent to the temple, becomes a beehive of activities during the festival.

This festival begins with Kodiyettam (hoisting of the temple flag) and concludes with Arattu. The highlights are panchavadyam, fire works, sheeveli and annadanam. Cultural programs such as kathakali, ottanthullal, patakam and thayambaka are staged.

To add the colorfulness of the festival, there is Pakalpooram procession (on the seventh day) in which caparisoned elephants take part. The festivity within the temple devotes to pujas and bhajans. Merchants from different places erect stalls at the Durbar Hall ground.
