Elgandal Quila

Elgandal Quila is 10 km from Karimnagar. Built on a hill, the fort was once the capital of Telangana and was ruled by the Kakatiyas, Bahmanis, Qutub Shahis, Mughals and Asaf Jahis. An 18th century mosque is housed within the fort. It has minarets, which oscillate when shaken. Tombs of some Muslim saints are seen. Urs festival is celebrated here annually on the 11th and 12th day of Muharram, as a tribute to these Muslim saints.
