Durgabai Deshmukh Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center for the Handicapped




The Durgabai Deshmukh Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center for the Handicapped was started in 1982 at Vidyanagar, Hyderabad and functions under the Andhra Mahila Sabha, a reputed voluntary organization. It provides vocational training to the physically handicapped, mentally retarded, hearing-impaired and multiple handicapped children with an objective to make them self reliant. Training is given in book binding, hand composing, tailoring, embroidery, shorthand and screen printing. The special education department contains special schools for the mentally retarded and the hearing handicapped. The center also aims to build a respite home for the adult mentally retarded girls at Kurnool.
