Durga Temple



Durga Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Uchaitha, in Darbhanga District of Bihar. It is about 48 km north-west of Darbhanga, the district headquarters. This east facing temple enshrines Goddess Durga as the presiding deity. The idol is made of black stone.

The deity of the temple is depicted in a sitting posture on a lion and a lotus flower can be seen on the back of the lion. The deity is flanked by Lord Brahma and Lord Chandra on either sides. There is an idol of Goddess Kali installed on the left side of the Durga. Other deities worshipped here include Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Hanuman. All these statues are made of black stone.

Darbhanga Junction Railway Station, served by the East Central Railways, is the nearest railhead.
