Durga Parameswari Temple




Durga Parameswari Temple is located at Kateel, about 25 km from Mangalore, in Karnataka. Situated in the middle of the river Nandini, the temple is dedicated to Bramaraambigai. The place is known as Kateel, as Devi is seated in the middle (katee) of the Nandini River.

The deity is seen in a seated posture with four arms. In the upper arms she holds the Shangu and Chakram (conch and discus), while the lower two hands are in the abhaya and varadha mudras. Other deities worshipped here are Rakteswari (a swayambu rock), Lord Ganesh, Lord Ayyappa, Kshetrapalan and Nagas.
