An eminent Assamese writer, film-maker, researcher, and editor, Dr. Bhabendranath Sakia has penned a number of noteworthy short stories and novels. Antareep, Ramyabhumi, Maramar Dewta, and Sendoor are his most popular works. Sakia was conferred with the Rajat Kamal Award for his contribution to film-making. He won the national award for the best screenplay for the film Agnishnan. Most of his films portray the sufferings, dreams, and social obligations that a common man encounters in his life.
