Dotma is located in the district of Kokrajhar. It is about 14 km from Kokrajhar and 217 km from Guwahati. The sub-divisional town of Gossaigaon lies 20 km west of it.

Major part of the town is surrounded by Haltugaon and Kachugaon reserve forests.

Kokrajhar Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is the nearest airport.
