Doonagiri Glacier




Doonagiri is a 5.5 km-long glacier, located at the Garhwal region of Uttaranchal. Originating at an altitude of 5,150 m, it extends to its termination point at 4,240 m. It is one of the glaciers of the Dhauliganga System of Glaciers. This system has more than 500 glaciers of different shapes and sizes. The stream originating from Doonagiri Glacier merges into Dhauliganga River near Juma village. The glacier is approachable from Juma, which serves as the base camp for trekking. The best season for trekking to this glacier is between mid-May and mid-October.
