Dombivli




Dombivli is a prominent town, located between Thane and Kalyan, in Thane District of Maharashtra. It is about 20 km west of Thane and 50 km north-east of Mumbai.

Dombivli is divided into two parts: Dombivli (west) and Dombivli (east). It has a cosmopolitan population and holds the distinction of being one of the fully literate towns in Asia. Dombivli is a major industrial area with major paints, chemical and heavy metal factories.

Ganpati Mandir, Goan Devi Mandir and Khidkali Temple are some of the shrines in the area. Somwar Bazaar, otherwise known as Monday Market, is one of the popular shopping areas in Dombivli. Besides, the shopping mela (fair) held at Dombivli Gymkhana annually in December attracts people from far and near.

Dombivli Railway Station, managed by the Central Railways, and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport serve Dombivli. Kalyan Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
