Doli Songs

In a typical Indian wedding, there is a ceremony for bidding farewell to the bride. In Punjab, such ceremonies are accompanied by a song called Doli. This song is highly emotional, expressing the grief of the parents in parting with their dear daughter.

The Doli song, apart from depicting the sorrow of the departure, also contains elements of excitement of the bride for her new beginning in life.
