Dola Jatra

Dola Jatra is organized during the lunar month of Phalgun. Beginning with the Poornima or the full moon day of the month, Radha and Krishna images from the Vaishnava temples are taken out for a ritual journey to the site of the fair amid chanting of bhajans and kirtans. On the way the deities pay a visit to several villages, receiving homage and offerings from devotees. Chanting of spiritual songs and recitation of the Bhagavata and other scriptures are usually organized at the site of the fair.
