Dinman Hardol's Palace

Palki Mahal

Dinman Hardol's Palace, also known as Palki Mahal, is an interesting monument located at Orchha in Tikamgarh District of Madhya Pradesh. Orchha is about 120 km south-east of Gwalior.

The monument is associated with the story of Dinman Hardol, the son of Raja Bir Singh. Legends say that Dinman committed suicide to prove his innocence over an affair with his brother's wife. His martyrdom has given him the statue of a romantic folk hero. Presently, this saintly prince is worshipped in a shrine located at Bundelkhand village.

Next to the palace is the Ram Raja Temple, the only temple in the country where Lord Ram is worshipped as Raja (king).
