Diengiei Peak

Diengiei Peak is just two hundred feet lower than the Shillong Peak. The surroundings are enchanting with breathtaking views of the lush green hills dotted with tiny villages. Apart from this, the spectacular views of the Umiam Lake and the Shillong city can be enjoyed from here.

There is a huge cup-shaped hollow atop the peak, which geologists believe that it could be the crater of an extinct ancient volcano.

Located to the west of the Shillong plateau, Diengiei Peak is easily accessible from the Umiam-Union Christian College-Mawmaram road, which takes off from National Highway 40, at Umiam.
