Dhurva Tribe




Dhurva tribe inhabit Kutumbsar village in Kanger forest . They mostly depend on forest products and agriculture as their main source of income. They are highly religious and worship Mati Deo (earth God) as their main deity. Villagers sacrifice goat, pig, duck, chicken and coconut. These people are brave and were responsible for the security of the palace during king’s rule.

They follow a marriage system similar to other tribes. Women have better rights and are liable for most of family maintenance. Men usually engage in the activities of hunting, agriculture and also take care of the protection of the family. For celebration and other evening activities, they use drink such as Salfi and Mahuva.
