Dhola is a popular folk song prevalent in various parts of
Punjab. The Pothohari Dhola is one of the condensed forms of Dhola. Each of the stanzas can be divided into two parts and contains five lines each. The second part of the song is a couplet that specifies the meaning of the first three lines.
Dhola song has an audible rhyme and features love and sentiments. The rhythm of the Dhola varies substantially in tune with the various emotions portrayed. Usually Dhola singers themselves write the lyrics for the songs.
