Every year in the month of April, the Rajasthanis celebrate their traditional 16 day festival, the Dheenga Gawar. Dedicated to the Hindhu goddess Gawar, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati
, it is mainly partaken by women. During the festival, the women dress up as policemen or as Hanuman
, the Hindu monkey God, and beat the village youths. It is believed that the bachelor who receives beating will be married by the next year. Goddess Gawar blesses both married n and unmarried women on the occasion. Cultural programs are conducted throughout the night.
