Dhariwal




Dhariwal is a small town on National Highway 15, in Gurdaspur District. It was known as Kacha Dhariwal in the beginning of the 20th century and got its name from the name of Dhariwal village. The town spreads over an area of 2.31 sq km and the population is approximately 14,500.

Dhariwal is a prominent industrial center, especially known for the manufacture of machine tools and woolen products. Egerton Woolen Mills, established in 1882, is a leading textile mill on the banks of a branch of Upper Bari Doab canal.

Dhariwal is connected to other parts of the district by the Dera Baba Nanak-Batala road. The nearest railway station is Dera Baba Nanak, located around 10 km from the town. The nearest airport is the Gaggal Dharamsala Airport.
