Dhammananda is a meditation center situated in the village of Markal, 8 km from the sacred village of
Alandi, 30 km from
Pune Junction Railway Station and 25 km from the
Pune Lohegaon Airport. Set on twenty-three acres of land on the bank of the
Indrayani River, it was started in 1997. The center conducts ten-day courses and its meditation hall accommodates up to 100-125 students. Double rooms with attached bathrooms and dormitories for male and female meditators are available for accommodation. About 10,000 trees are planted surrounding the center for creating a verdant, congenial atmosphere for meditation. Youth courses are organized in various colleges and children's courses, named Anapana, are conducted in schools of Pune. Dhammananda also arranges courses for prisoners and visually impaired students.
