Dhak

Dhak, a large drum prevalent in West Bengal, is made of big wooden-shell. In ancient days, it was known as Danka. The both ends are covered with skin and tightened by leather straps. The instrument is played by striking each end with two light and thin sticks. At the time of playing, the instrument is hung on the shoulder in slanting position. The performers make swinging dance-like movements while playing.
