Deva Mela




Deva Mela is an annual Urs of Haji Waris Ali Shah celebrated at Deva, which is 10 km from Barabanki, in Uttar Pradesh. It is held during the month of October and November. The fair attracts devotees even from outside India mainly from Pakistan and from the Middle East. The shrine of the Sufi Saint situated here is revered by the Muslims from all over the world.

A big cattle market is the main attraction of this fair. Different cultural and sports competitions are held, which charges the excitement of the people. All India mushaira, kavi sammelan, music conference, manas sammelan and seeratun Nabi are staged. Sports loving people find great pleasure in events such as hockey, volleyball, badminton and athletics.

Hundreds of brightly lit and decorated shops sell a variety of handicrafts, household utility items, toys, delicious snacks and exotic sweetmeats.

A brilliant display of fireworks marks the conclusion of this fair.
