Dehre is a style of wall painting practiced in Himachal Pradesh. The painting is done in the bridegroom’s home, usually belonging to a rich family, to welcome the bride. The rituals related to the welcoming are performed in front of the painting.
Dehre painting is done by the women folks. The theme deals with traditional and mythological subjects. Lord Ganesh, birds, flowers, bride and bridegroom and women dressed in traditional attire are the commonly found images in these paintings.
