Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary




Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Baragarh District of Orissa is about 40 km from Sambalpur.

Stretching over 347 sq km of dry deciduous mixed forests, the sanctuary forms part of the Hirakud Dam, which attracts large number of migratory birds during winter.

Prominent species found here are Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, hyena, bison, sambar deer, spotted deer, chousingha, crested serpent eagle, monitor lizard, chameleon and a host of resident and migratory birds.

The best time to visit is between November and June.

Nearest airport is at Raipur. Nearest railhead is at Sambalpur.
