Dashavatar Temple




Dashavatar Temple is a ruined temple of Lord Vishnu situated in front of the Gundicha Temple at Puri. Dashavatar means the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Jayadeva, the author of Gita Govinda is said to have stayed at this temple. So this 12th century temple is dedicated to this great poet. This serene temple becomes an active center during the Rath Yatra. Puri is well connected by road and rail with Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The nearest airport, Biju Patnaik Airport, is at a distance of 60 km from Puri.
