Dandi




Dandi is a small town situated in the western coast of Gujarat, in Navsari District. This beach town is well known as a salt centre located on the Arabian Sea coast. Dandi is about 42 km south of Surat and 16 km from Navsari, the district headquarters. Ahmedabad is about 388 km north-east.

Dandi acquired a name in history after the famous 'Dandi March Salt Satyagraha' launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930, which marked an important episode in the Indian freedom struggle.

Dandi has a fine beach and moderate water current making it an ideal place for water sports. The town falls in the Bharuch – Surat – Dumas – Dandi - Tithal –Udwada – Navsari - Saputara tourist circuit.

Navsari Railway Station serves Dandi.
