Dakshinya Institute for the Mentally Handicapped is situated in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. The institute offers exceptional services for people with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and associated multiple disabilities. It can accommodate up to 300 patients. Residential facility is given for nearly 50 children.
The institute has therapist, physiotherapist, pediatrician, social worker and occupational therapist for the treatment of the children. It also has a day care center, respite care center, assessment and diagnostic center.
A vocational training center here offers courses on chalk piece making, candle making, mechanized leaf plate making, manufacturing of phenyl, manufacturing of detergent powder and tailoring. The institute also organizes various workshops and seminars.
