Dakhinpat Satra




Dakhinpat Satra is located at Majuli Island in Jorhat District of Assam. Basically a monastery, it is a unique feature of Vaishnavism in the state.

The satra was established by Banamalidev, a great exponent of Raasleela. Once it was the centre for education and dissemination of the art of harmonious living.

Thousand of devotees visit this monastery during Rasotsava, one of the national festivals of Assam.

Majuli can be reached by Dhokuakhana from Dhemaji and Luit-Khabolughat from North Lakhimpur.
