The artisans who execute pata paintings are called Daitapatis. They are mainly concerned with painting of the deities of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra in the Jagannath temple, Puri District of Orissa. Daitapatis are believed to be the descendants of Biswabasu. Ceremonies and festivals connected with the Ratha Yatra are conducted by the Daitapatis.
