D C Books is one of the leading publishers in Kerala with a market share of nearly eighty percent. Founded in 1974 at Good Shepherd Street in Kottayam, the center has paved the way for a total revolution in the state's book industry by infusing and improving the reading habit among the public. D C Books jointly with the Current Books, which became its sister concern in 1977, has a chain of 23 branches, including one in New Delhi, and 55 agencies across Kerala.
The center brings out almost all the works of prominent authors in Malayalam and those of new talents. Besides, it publishes well known Indian and foreign authors in Malayalam language. Some of the major translations brought out by the publishers are ‘S Freedom at Midnight’ by Dominic Lapiere and Larry Collins, ‘Road Back to Nature’ by M. Fukuoka and ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ by Gabriel Garcica Marquez.
D C Books at Kottayam houses an art gallery, which is a venue for art exhibitions of both renowned and upcoming artists. An array of modern and traditional paintings and sculptures created by established artists are exhibited here.
