Costa Malabari

Costa Malabari is a stunning beach in Thottada village of Kannur District. It lies around 10 km from Kannur. The beach has three palm-fringed narrow caves, which are separated from each others by laterite cliffs.

The beach with golden sand is ideal for safe swimming and bird watching. A large variety of birds including honey suckers, wood peckers and king fishers can be found on the shores.

Parassinikadavu Temple, where toddy and fish are the main offerings, is in the vicinity. Handloom Weaving Center, St Angelo’s Fort and Beedi (traditional cigar) Production Center are nearby.

Costa Malabari Beach Village, a guest house run by Tourist Desk (Ernakulam), ensures a cozy stay in its well furnished five rooms. A stay here gives tourists an opportunity to witness Theyyam (a ritualistic dance), which is conducted by the guest house.

Local taxis and buses are available from Kannur to Thottada. Kannur Railway Station and Calicut Airport are the nearest railhead and airport respectively.
