College of Horticulture was founded in 1972 under the faculty of
Kerala Agricultural University. It is situated at Vellanikkara in
Thrissur District.
The college has graduate and post graduate programs in agronomy, agricultural botany, soil science and agriculture chemistry, agriculture entomology and plant pathology. PhD programs in some of the above disciplines are also offered.
A mushroom production unit, the vegetable seed production complex and the medicinal plants production unit are functioning in the college. The faculty members are actively participating in various extension programs of the university by way of conducting training programs on recent advances in production technology of various crops, taking classes in farmer's seminars, broadcasting radio talks and publishing popular articles.
