Clover

Clover (Trifolium repense) is an important forage leguminous plant and cover crop grown in the temperate and the subtropical regions. It is found in the pastures near Thannamandi, Darhal, Bakori and Budhal of Rajouri District.

There are two varieties distinguished, White Clover and Red Clover. White clover helps in adding a large amount of nitrogen to the degraded soils using nitrogen fixed by the bacterium in the roots. Propagation is achieved through the surface creeping of stolons.
