Church of Mary Help of Christians was once part of the Bajpe parish. Adyapady parish is also known as Mariapura. Adyapady parish got the status of a parish on March 19, 1974. Fr Charles Lewis served as the first parish priest. Bajpe, Bondel, Permude and Gurpur-Kaikamba are the four parishes that fall under this church.

Church of Mary Help of Christians lies in close proximity to the Mangalore Airport. Mangalore Junction Railway Station and Mangalore Central Railway Station are the closest from Adyapady and well connected through extensive rail network with major cities.
